Eau Claire, Wis. – The Eau Claire Express announced the signing of four new players today, adding pitchers Caleb Boushley (UW-La Crosse) and Michael Gomez (Cal Poly), infielder Mickey McDonald (UIC), and catcher/third baseman Austin Guzzo (Iowa) to the current 30-man roster.

Caleb Boushley, a Hortonville, Wis. native, has been dominant in the 2016 season for the Eagles, posting an 8-0 record in 10 starts this year. Boushley leads the Eagles with 68 strikeouts and has a 1.83 ERA this season, best among the team’s starting pitchers. He has pitched two complete games for the Eagles this spring, holding opposing batters to a .225 average. Since transferring from UW-Fox Valley, the right-hander has a 13-2 career record. He recently received the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Pitcher of the Year award for his 2016 campaign, leading the Eagles to a conference-best 34-8 overall record.

Michael Gomez was a starting pitcher for the Eau Claire Express in the 2015 season. Gomez started in eight games last season for the Express, earning a 3-2 record while posting a 4.32 ERA. In his freshman season for the Cal Poly Mustangs, Gomez made 26 appearances, tallying a 1-2 record and a 4.50 ERA out of the bullpen.

Mickey McDonald did not play his junior season for the UIC Flames this spring after having offseason surgery. The third-baseman from San Francisco, CA earned an All-Horizon League First Team selection after batting .305 and tallying 37 RBI’s during his sophomore season in 2015. McDonald led the Flames with 14 stolen bases, which tied him for fourth-most in the Horizon League. He is a projected selection in the 2016 MLB Draft this June.

Austin Guzzo is in his second season behind the plate for the Hawkeyes. The Brooklin, Ontario native is hitting .239 this season, driving in 19 RBI’s and posting a .375 slugging percentage. He is currently tied for fourth on the Hawkeyes with three home runs. Last summer, Guzzo played for the North Fork Ospreys in the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League. During his time with the Ospreys, he batted .273 with two homeruns and 11 RBI’s.

The Express begin their twelfth season of play in the Northwoods League at Carson Park on May 31 versus the Rochester Honkers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. in that contest, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Season tickets, 5-Game Packs, and single-game tickets are on sale now .
