Eau Claire, Wis.— Thursday’s game would not begin at the designated 7:05 start time, with a tarp covering the infield as rain came down heavily in Waterloo. The rain did not let up, forcing a postponement until tomorrow night, where the Express will take on the Bucks in a double-header.
The first game tomorrow will commence at 5:35 p.m. and the second game will be scheduled for 7:05 p.m., however the game will start roughly 30 minutes after the first game ends. Both games will be just seven innings.
Jon Roblez will pitch the opening game of the double-header against the Waterloo Bucks as the Express hit the road before returning home to Carson Park for the remainder of the season. The right-hander from Alabama State has a 2-0 record in four starts, highlighted by a seven inning no-hitter against St. Cloud in early July. Roblez has been a key cog of the Eau Claire rotation, with a 3.34 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched.
Jameson Lavery hopes to carry the momentum from his first win of the season last week against Rochester, a one run, six-inning performance in his second start of the summer. Lavery will look to pick up his second win of the year against the Bucks tomorrow night in the late night matchup against. Lavery holds a 1-1 overall record in six games, with a solid 3.24 ERA. Lavery has proven to be a pitcher with elite control, walking just four batters in 16.2 innings pitched. The UW-La Crosse junior has fanned eight opposing hitters in his two different outings, returning to Eau Claire after four games as a reliever in mid-June.
