Eau Claire, Wis. – The Eau Claire Express today announced the signing of two more outfielders to its 2017 roster. Joining the team are Dominic Clementi and Josh George. Clementi is a freshman at Michigan and George is a junior at Cal Poly. With the recent signings the roster is at 17. The Express will continue to announce player signings weekly until the beginning of the Northwoods League season.

Clementi continues the trend of extremely fast outfielders signed to this summer’s roster. He runs a 6.74 second 60-yard dash and 4.12 home to first. He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the WWBA Kernels Foundation Championship in 2015. The Hartland, Wis. native was named to the Perfect Game-Rawlings First Team All-Central Region team as a high schooler.

George adds some valuable experience to the Express roster as he will be a junior at Cal Poly. He’s a solid No. 2 hitter in the lineup and batted .306 with seven doubles and a triple as a sophomore. The Hollister, Calif. native also showed the ability to play each position in the outfield defensively for the Mustangs.

Field Manager Dale Varsho had this to say about his final two outfielders.

“Dominic and Josh will round out an athletic outfield for the 2017 team,” Varsho stated. “Dominic was recommended by former Express player Nick Wischer and will be the first Wolverine in Express history. Josh we expect to continue the trend of great players we have received from Cal Poly since the inaugural season in 2005.”

The Express begin season number 13 in the Northwoods League on May 30 as they travel to Bismarck, N.D. for the inaugural series for the Bismarck Larks. They continue to Willmar to take on the Stingers for a two-game set before opening their home schedule at Carson Park on Saturday, June 3 versus the Mankato MoonDogs. First pitch of the home opener will be at 7:05 p.m. and the game will be followed by a fireworks show.
