Eau Claire, Wis. – The Express begins season No. 14 in the Northwoods League on May 29th as they travel to Rochester, Minn. for the season opener against the Rochester Honkers.
Justin Slaten (New Mexico) gets the nod for the Express’ first game of the season while Drew Slade will start for the Honkers. There will be a watch party at the Eau Claire Ale House at 6:30 pm. All fans are welcome to attend and watch the first game of the year! It will be a great time with prizes, food/beverage specials, and The Kurve on tap.
Game two of the series, Wednesday May 30th, will feature a matchup between Eau Claire’s Josh Gaworski (Concordia-St. Paul) and Rochester’s Chad Tworek. Your Express will then travel to La Crosse for one game on Thursday, May 31st before opening their home schedule at Carson Park.
The home opener comes on Friday, June 1st against the La Crosse Loggers with first pitch set for 7:05 pm. Seat cushions will be given away to fans as a part of Strike Out Stroke Night, presented by Mayo Clinic Health System. There will also be an action packed fireworks show following the game! Express fans, you do not want to miss this.
Saturday, June 2nd is also full of fun festivities for the whole family, highlighted by Faith Night featuring a Piggy Bank Giveaway. Fans will receive a baseball piggy bank, sponsored by Regis Catholic Schools. A $12 ticket special is available for all church and faith groups (includes your ticket, a hot dog, and small beverage). Nick Anderson and the Skinny Lovers, sponsored by OakLeaf Clinics, are sure to provide a good time on the Hank Aaron Plaza prior to the game! Festivities begin at 5:00 pm and gates open at 5:30, followed by a 6:35 pm first pitch.
