Eau Claire, Wis. – The Eau Claire Express (3-5) were back in action this morning for game two against the Thunder Bay Border Cats (2-6) at Port Arthur Stadium. After last night’s win, the Express looked to sweep the Border Cats in the series finale. Eau Claire would come through with a 7-2 victory.

The Express started the game with a huge six run first inning. The first three Express batters would reach on walks. Zach Gilles (Central Michigan) would score on a wild pitch and Spencer Myers (Notre Dame) would follow suit, scoring on a wild pitch in the next at bat. After a hit by pitch, Thunder Bay’s starter, Omar Maldonado, would be pulled from the game. Even then, the Border Cats’ pitching staff would continue to struggle to find the strike zone. Adam LaRock (MATC) would draw a bases loaded walk, scoring Nic Ready (Air Force). The highlight of the inning was a  Zac Stange (Winona State) two RBI single that scored Tommy Gillman (Midland JC) and Phillip Sikes (New Mexico). The final run of the inning would come after a passed ball.  The Express would score once more in the top of the 6th inning off a Nic Ready sac fly that would score Jordan Wilson (UW Stout).

Express starter, Josh Gaworski (Concordia-St. Paul), would throw five solid innings, giving up only 1 earned run on four hits, three walks, and five strikeouts. The right handed pitcher would earn the win. Rece Dietrich (Duluth) worked out of the bullpen, tossing four innings. He would allow one run to score on five hits, one walk, and one strikeout.

The Express will before return home for a 6:35 pm first pitch on Wednesday, June 6th, against the Bismark Larks. It will be Buck Night at Carson Park. This includes $1 hot dogs, $1 small sodas, $1 domestic beer and $4 wine for the first three innings!
