Eau Claire, WI – The Eau Claire Express (6-14) got back in the win column on Sunday afternoon after defeating the Duluth Huskies (14-6) in the series finale.
Eau Claire first got on the board in the 3rd inning. Spencer Myers (Notre Dame) singled to lead off the inning. He advanced to third base due to an error on a pickoff attempt and would slide into home plate following a wild pitch. Cody Milligan (Oklahoma State) walked, David LaManna (Notre Dame) hit a single, and Andrew Pratt was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Devon Garcia drove in the run on a sacrifice fly to the right fielder. In the 5th inning, Andrew Pratt roped an RBI double, scoring LaManna. The Express runs that came in the 6th and 7th innings were both scored on errors by Huskies’ fielders. Adam LaRock (MATC) had a big night at the plate, going 3-4. Myers, Milligan, LaManna, and Pratt all finished the day 2-4 with a run scored.
Josh Gaworski (Concordia-St. Paul) started for the Express and went 6 innings, giving up one earned run on four hits and four walks. Gaworski was cruising along with five strikeouts before an hour long rain delay ended his night. Trevor Olson pitched the 7th inning, giving up three earned runs off three hits. His night was also cut short due to the second rain delay of the game. Phillip Sikes finished the game for the Express, going two innings without allowing a run.
