Eau Claire, WI – The Eau Claire Express (8-14) came away with the win tonight, beating the Waterloo Bucks (7-14) with a final of 4-3. It was a beautiful night for baseball and the Express played a stellar game.
The Express found themselves in an early 2-0 hole after the Bucks scored two in the first inning. Eau Claire would score in the 5th inning on an Adam LaRock (MATC) RBI single that scored Noah Sifrit (Oklahoma State). In his first game with the Express, Drew Hmielewski (Minnesota) drove in Scott Ogrin (Cal Poly) in the 6th inning, bringing the score to 3-2 in favor of the Bucks. Cody Milligan (Oklahoma State) came up big for the Express in the 7th inning, hitting a 2 RBI single to take the lead and put the score to 4-3.
Four pitchers would share time on the mound for Eau Claire. Andrew Dean (Illinois-Springfield) got the start and went six innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits, one walk, and striking out eight. Carson Rudd (Stanford) would enter for an inning and would receive the win. Tyler Strzelczyk (MATC) would also throw one inning and struck out one of the Bucks. Phillip Sikes (New Mexico) would enter in the 9th and shut down the opposition. The freshman would strike out the side to end the game.
Eau Claire will travel to Mankato to face the MoonDogs for a two game set on Thursday and Friday. They return home on Saturday, June 23rd for a 6:35 pm first pitch. The game is presented by Window World & A+ Insulation. The ZOOperstars will perform throughout the game, youth jerseys will be given away to fans! Nick Anderson and the Skinny Lovers will perform on the plaza prior to the game. Pregame band is presented by OakLeaf Clinics.
