Eau Claire, WI – The Eau Claire Express got the win to end a short road trip to Mankato. The hits came early and often for the crew as the Express earned a 4-2 victory over the MoonDogs.

Eau Claire started off strong, scoring two runs in the top of the 2nd and one run in the third. The Express sent eight batters to the plate in the 2nd. Nick Brueser (Stanford) led off with a single, followed by a single from David LaManna (Notre Dame). Phillip Sikes (New Mexico) would drive in Brueser on an RBI single. After Devon Garcia (Ohio) singled to load the bases, LaManna ran into home on a fielder’s choice hit by Noah Sifrit (Oklahoma State). Scott Ogrin (Cal Poly) displayed some power again tonight as he crushed a solo shot over the left field fence to put the Express up 3-0 in the top of the 3rd inning. The final Express run would come in the 8th inning as Sikes scored on a Garcia RBI single. Phillip Sikes shined at the plate going 4-5 with a double, three singles, an RBI, and a run scored.

Pitching was another key factor for the Express. Justin Revels (Illinois-Springfield) earned the win after tossing 6.1 innings pitched and giving up two runs on six hits. Zach Grech (Stanford) worked 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Phillip Sikes would come in to close the game in the 9th. He struck out two on the way to his fourth save of the season.
