Eau Claire, WI – The Eau Claire Express (12-15) won their fourth straight on Monday evening after defeating the Duluth Huskies (18-9) with a final score of 8-4.

The Express took the early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning. Spencer Myers (Notre Dame) led off with a single and stole second in the following at bat. Myers scored on an error by the Huskies shortstop. Reaching on that error was Nick Brueser (Stanford). Cody Milligan (Oklahoma State) laced a double to advance Brueser to third. Drew Hmielewski (Minnesota) would drive in the two on base on a triple to centerfield.

The fifth inning was also very kind to Eau Claire. Tommy Gillman (Midland JC) began with a single and Adam LaRock (MATC) advanced him to third base on a sac bunt. LaRock would be safe at first due to an error committed by the Huskies pitcher. Myers reached on another Huskies error, Gillman would score on the play and LaRock moved to second. Jimmy Glowenke (Dallas Baptist) loaded the bases with a single. A run would score when Brueser was hit by a pitch and another would come in on an E3. Hmielewski drove in the final run of the inning on an RBI single.

In the 7th inning, Nick Brueser singled, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a Noah Sifrit (Oklahoma State) RBI single.

Justin Slaten (New Mexico) was on the mound to start the game for Eau Claire. He once again threw a gem, going six innings and allowed one run on two hits. The Northwoods League strikeout leader would fan five Huskies on the day to bring his total to 43. Reagan MacDonald (Dallas Baptist) came in to pitch the final three innings of the game. The Huskies would score three runs while MacDonald was on the mound, but none were earned. The junior gave up two hits and struck out three.

Eau Claire will return home to Carson Park on Tuesday, June 26th for a 6:35 pm first pitch. It is Foam Finger Giveaway Night! Game presented by Merrick Hand Surgery.
