Eau Claire, WI – The Eau Claire Express (12-16) fell to the Duluth Huskies (19-9) by a final score of 8-2 in tonight’s matchup. It was a chilly night for baseball and Eau Claire struggled to put runs on the board as Duluth’s offense did not let up.

The two Express runs both came in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Spencer Myers (Notre Dame) led off with a single. Jimmy Glowenke (Dallas Baptist) drove Myers in on an RBI double and advanced to third on the throw to home. In the next at bat, Scott Ogrin (Cal Poly) lined an RBI single to score Glowenke.

Jimmy Glowenke, Nick Brueser (Stanford) and Cody Milligan (Oklahoma State) each hit a double for the Express. Nick Brueser (Stanford) went 2-4 on the night. Scott Ogrin added a hit, an RBI and two walks.

Starter Andrew Dean (Illinois-Springfield) received the loss. Dean went six innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on ten hits and one walk. Jimmy Fouse (Dallas Baptist) got roughed up on his home debut. He went 0.1 giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks. Colton Hale (Illinois-Springfield) came in to throw 2.1 innings, allowing three runs on two hits and three walks. Drew Hmielewski (Minnesota) entered to get the final out in the top of the 9th.

Eau Claire travels to St. Cloud for a doubleheader tomorrow. The games will be played at 12:05 pm and 7:05 pm. They return to Carson Park on Thursday, June 28 for a 6:35 pm first pitch.
