Thunder Bay’s Pitching Staff Stifles Express
Eau Claire, WI – It was a beautiful night for baseball at Carson Park, but the Eau Claire Express (1-1) were outmatched by the Thunder Bay Border Cats (1-1). The Express lost 6-1 as the pitching staff of the Border Cats came up big.
Eau Claire could only muster up four hits on the night. Spencer Myers (Notre Dame) got the first Express hit, a single in the bottom of the 4th. He would quickly be erased with a 4-6-3 double play. Cody Milligan (Oklahoma State) lead off the 8th with a single but was left stranded on first. The last two hits came in the bottom of the 9th. Jimmy Glowenke (Dallas Baptist) began with a single and was thrown out at second base trying to stretch it into a double. Andrew Pratt (Lubbock Christian) sent a ball over the right field wall for his first home run of the season. The solo shot put the Express on the board.
Carson Rudd (Stanford) got the start in front of the home crowd. He pitched five innings giving up four runs on four hits and five walks. He struck out five Border Cats. Trevor Olson (Xavier) came in and threw three innings of relief. The Chippewa Falls native allowed one run off one hit and four walks. Jimmy Fouse (Dallas Baptist) worked the 9th inning.
