Eau Claire, WI – The Eau Claire Express (1-2) lost the first game in the series with the La Crosse Loggers (3-0) by a score of 11-4. The Express ran into trouble in the 7th and allowed seven runs in the inning at Copeland Park.

Rece Dietrich (Duluth) was on the mound to start for the Express. It was a short start of three innings, and Dietrich gave up two runs on four hits and one walk. Tyler Strzelczyk (MATC) came in for two innings of relief and allowed two earned runs off five hits. Austin George (College of Charleston) received the loss, throwing 1.1 innings and had to exit after a rough 7th inning. He surrendered four runs on three hits and four walks. Colton Hale (Illinois Springfield) came in for the last 1.2 innings. Three Loggers scored with Hale on the mound off two hits and two walks.

Eau Claire got on the board in the 1st inning. Spencer Myers (Notre Dame) lead off with a single to center field. Cody Milligan (Oklahoma State) followed with a double to move Myers to third. Later in the inning, David LaManna (Notre Dame) hit into a groundout that scored Myers. Two runs scored in the 5th inning for the Express. Jimmy Glowenke (Dallas Baptist) scored on an error by the Loggers’ second baseman. Nick Brueser (Stanford) drove in Scott Ogrin (Cal Poly) on an RBI single. Ogrin would show big power in the 7th inning, slugging a home run over the tall center field wall at Copeland Park.

Eau Claire heads back to La Crosse tomorrow to play the last game of the series against the Loggers. They travel to Rochester for the first game of a home and home series on Sunday, July 8th. The Express will be back in town on Monday, July 9th, for a 6:35 pm first pitch. Join us for Bark in the Park, presented by emBARK! Enjoy the baseball game alongside your furry friend.
