Game 1 – The Eau Claire Express (11-13) fell to the Rochester Honkers (12-13) by a score of 4-2 in an 8 inning rain shortened game.

Manny Castellano (Cumberlands) got the start for the Express, going 5.1 innings. He gave up one run on five hits and walked two while striking out five. Tyler Strzelczyk (MATC) received the loss after throwing two innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits. Adam LaRock (MATC) would toss 0.2 scoreless to finish the game.

The Express runs came in the 4th and the 5th. The first came when Noah Sifrit (Oklahoma State) led off with a walk and stole second base. He would come in on a Nick Brueser (Stanford) RBI single.  Newcomer Mitchell Buban (Milwaukee) received a warm welcome to Eau Claire when he hit a solo shot in his second game with the Express.

Rain started in the 8th inning. The game was put into a rain delay and was called complete shortly afterwards.

Game 2 – The Honkers (13-13) handled the Express (11-14) with ease during the second game and won 13-5. Rochester’s starter, Ryan Dorney, was dominant on the mound.

The Express collected 5 runs on the night, all coming in the bottom of the 9th inning. Spencer Myers reached on a hit by pitch, moved to second on a Noah Sifrit walk, and advanced to 3rd on the Andrew Pratt (Lubbock Christian) fly out. The bases were loaded when Nick Brueser was hit by a pitch. Cody Milligan (Oklahoma State) hit an RBI single and David LaManna hit a three RBI double. LaManna would later come around to score.

Justin Revels (Illinois Springfield) took the loss for the Express after giving up six runs on eight hits and two walks. Trevor Olson came out of the bullpen for 1.2 innings, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks. Adam LaRock came in to pitch the last 2.1 innings of game 2. He gave up three runs on four hits.

Eau Claire will begin a four game road trip with two in Thunder Bay and two in Duluth. They return home on Tuesday, August 6th.
