Eau Claire, WI – For the final time of the 2018 season, the Eau Claire Express (28-43) ran onto the Carson Park field to take on the St. Cloud Rox (37-35). It was a beautiful day for baseball and the crowd loudly cheered their hometown team. However, it was not enough as the Express dropped the last game of the season by a score of 9-2.

The two Express runs came in the bottom of the 7th inning. With two outs, Chase Scharnek (MATC) singled. Spencer Myers (Notre Dame) entered the game as a pinch hitter and hit a double, advancing Scharnek to third. Both runners would score on an Adam LaRock (MATC) 2 RBI single.

Austin George (College of Charleston) made his second start for the Express. Seven runs would score during his 4.2 innings but only one was earned. Trevor Olson (Xavier) entered for one inning. He gave up two runs on five hits and three walks. Josh Gaworski (Concordia-St Paul) had a great outing, tossing 3.1 innings and issued only one walk while recording four strikeouts.

Eau Claire finishes the 2018 Northwoods League season with an overall record of 28-43.
