RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC named Former Eau Claire Express Director of Broadcasting & Media Sales, Doug Raftery, the team’s General Manager Monday.
Raftery began his professional career with the Express in 2013 after serving as the team’s radio broadcaster in 2012. Raftery went on to continue his career as Frederick Keys’ Director of Sponsorship and radio play-by-play broadcaster before becoming the Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships for the Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and Reno 1868 FC. Raftery was elevated to become the Vice President of Corporate Sponsorships for the two teams prior to his promotion to Reno 1868 FC General Manager.
Additionally, Raftery served as an Assistant Coach for the UW-Eau Claire Women’s soccer team in 2013. He helped the Blugolds to an overall record of 8-9-3 and a WIAC Semifinal appearance. Raftery played collegiately for division III Hood College in Maryland.
Reno 1868 FC play in the USL Championship, a 36-team league at the top of the United Soccer League pyramid, one division beneath MLS.
