Duluth, MN – The Eau Claire Express (15-12, 34-29) were downed by the Duluth Huskies (17-10, 30-33) at Wade Stadium on Thursday night. The Express could not get things going offensively and couldn’t sharpen pitching as they fell to the Huskies by a final of 9-1.

The lone Express run scored in the top of the 1st inning. Brock Burton (Grand Canyon) hit a ground rule double that bounced over the right field wall. Burton stole third base and sprinted to score on an error by Duluth’s catcher.

It was all Huskies after that. Duluth answered with a run in the bottom of the 1st, scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning, and plated a run in each the 5th, 6th, and 8th innings. This put Duluth in a 9-1 lead, a score that held to be final. 

Colt Mink (Flagler College) took the loss after throwing 5.0 IP and giving up seven runs, six being earned. Kuster Kinlecheenie (Montevallo) entered for 2.0 innings and an unearned run scored during his time on the mound. Wyatt Stute (Nebraska Wesleyan) pitched a one run bottom of the 8th inning to finish the game.

Eau Claire will continue on the road trip that will last through the weekend. They return home to Carson Park on Monday, August 5th for a 6:35 pm first pitch.
