Eau Claire, WI – For the Express this season there’s been nothing like home sweet home, with 10 of their 14 wins coming at Carson Park following their 5-2 defeat of the Rochester Honkers. The Express offense came alive at the end of the game, scoring two in the 7th and 8th to put away Rochester and end their four-game losing streak.

Luke Eldred (Dallas Baptist) got the start on the mound for Eau Claire and put in a solid effort, allowing two runs in five innings of work. Derek True (Cal Poly) showcased his electric stuff in relief of Eldred, tossing three shutout frames and mowing down seven Rochester hitters en route to the win. The save went to Matt Helwig (Lewis) who continued his dominance with a perfect ninth.

The top half of the Express order accounted for most of the offensive on Thursday night as the 1-4 hitters combined for nine of the ten hits and all five RBIs. They were led by Benjamin Rosengard (Rice) who had three runs scored and three hits, one of them being the only homer of the game. Cadyn Schwabe (North Dakota St.) was a perfect 3 for 3 and reached base five times while Joe Yorke (Cal Poly) and Charlie Szykowny (UW-Stout) each added two RBIs.

The Express will look to finish the sweep against Rochester tomorrow at 7:05 CT.
