Eau Claire, WI – The Express turned in a clutch performance on Saturday night, pulling out a tight 5-4 win over the Loggers.

Ben Shepard (Minnesota-Duluth) was brilliant to start, throwing four no-hit innings but the Loggers would get to him in the 5th and 6th thanks to home runs from Luke Leto (LSU) and Blaise Preister (LSU). Trevyn Badger (Minot State) was incredible in relief, throwing two shutout innings and allowing just one walk. Matt Helwig (Lewis) shut the door in the 9th for his second save of the season.

The Express offense was led by Sam Kuchinski’s (Montevallo) best performance of the season, ending with three hits and an RBI double. Cole Conn (Illinois-Chicago) contributed two hits and an RBI in the winning effort.

The Express will travel to La Crosse tomorrow with hopes to complete the sweep against the second-place Loggers.
