Eau Claire, WI – The Eau Claire Express took down the Willmar Stingers on Tuesday night by the score of 3-2. This was a pivotal win for Eau Claire in their hunt to win the first half as they picked up a half game on the second-place Duluth Huskies who didn’t play.

The Express struck early on a 2-run homer off the bat of Sam Kuchinski (Montevallo) that just snuck over the wall in left field. Joe Yorke (Cal Poly) picked up an RBI on a punch single into center in the 6th to give Eau Claire a 3-0 lead. The Stingers got two back thanks to a home run from Joey Walls (UNLV) in the 8th, but fell short in the end.

Tyler Ingram (UIC) was absolutely dominant on the mound for Eau Claire going seven shutout innings and allowing just four hits while striking out five en route to the win. Derek True (Cal Poly) gave up the 2-run homer in the 8th, but was able to settle down in the 9th and earn the save.

The Express will travel to Willmar tomorrow for a 2-game bout as they look to put themselves in a good spot to win the division.
