Eau Claire, WI – The Eau Claire Express kicked off the second half of the season on Wednesday against the Mankato MoonDogs and it ended victoriously for the trains, winning 4-3.

The Express struck first in the 3rd, getting RBIs from Benjamin Rosengard (Rice), Trevor Haskins (Stanford), and Charlie Szykowny (UW-Stout). Mankato would claw their way back to tie up the game at 3-3 in the 6th inning after a crazy wild pitch allowed two runs to score. Haskins added another RBI on a single down the line in the 7th frame which proved to be the game-winning run.

Alec Baker (Dallas Baptist) got the starting nod for the Express and he was spectacular in five innings of work, posting nine strikeouts and allowing just one run. Hunter Rosenbaum (UTRGV) threw two great innings in relief and Matt Helwig (Lewis) earned the save for the fifth time this season.

Eau Claire returns to Carson Park tomorrow at 6:35 CT against Mankato to try and complete the sweep.
