Eau Claire, WI – On a hot and humid night, the Express were not able to capitalize on their early-game momentum, losing to the Loggers 1-5.

Jacob Taggart (Utah Tech) was the first man on the mound for the home team, throwing 4.0 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits with 1 strikeout. Although giving up minimal damage in his appearance, he took the loss as the Express were not able to get the lead back after going down 1-0 in the 2nd.

The Loggers had solid contributions from a variety of their players, including starting Pitcher/DH Seth Cox. Cox did damage on the mound and at the plate to Eau Claire.

Defensive Errors on the Express’ part hurt their defensive chances, as only 2 of La Crosse’s 5 runs were earned tonight.

Eau Claire was able to narrowly avoid the shutout, as Ryan Nagelbach (UIC) cranked the only extra-base hit of the night for the club in the bottom of the 8th. His double over the right fielder’s head drove in teammate Nate Witte (UW-Eau Claire) to bring the score to 5-1.

That’s where the scoring stopped for both teams on the night though, as La Crosse split the 2-game series with the Express.

The Express will be back in action tomorrow night vs. the Honkers in Rochester. First pitch will be at 6:35 pm CT. Tune into the game on the NWL Website, or listen along on the radio/online at 106.7-Moose Country.
