Box Score Suspended Game

Box Score regularly scheduled game

On the first pitch at Carson Park Wednesday night, the Express scored two runs on an errand pickoff attempt as the June 30 game against Wisconsin Rapids was finally resumed.

The Express wound up scoring six times in that inning to give themselves a 10-3 victory, a game which technically hung around for a month.

After Daniel Salters Salters and Tyler Hermann scored on the botched pickoff move, Brian Mundell drove in Drew Turbin on a sacrifice fly.

Peter Van Gansen then singled in Alex Call, and Jeff Hendrix walked with the bases loaded. Brady Burzynski ended the scoring by getting home on an error from the Rafters.

But then the rains came down to make a long day already longer, delaying the regularly scheduled nine-inning game about an hour. And the inefficiency of the Express offense made the night last forever.

Eau Claire stranded 10 runners while committing three errors in a 5-2 loss to the Rafters.

Brent Gibbs had a sacrifice fly to score Tyler Hermann in the fourth inning, and Peter Van Gansen drove in Gibbs on an RBI groundout in the eighth.

But the Rafters scored three in the seventh and one in the eighth to hand CJ Eldred a tough loss on the mound. Eldred went 6.1 innings and gave up three earned runs while striking out two.

The Express now fall to two games back of first place after two losses Wednesday. They resume play tomorrow in Alexandria to finish the season series with the Blue Anchors Thursday and Friday. Eau Claire is 6-0 against Alexandria this season. First pitch tomorrow is set for 6:35 p.m.
