Green Bay snaps six-game skid

by: Manny Rodriguez

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. The Green Bay Booyah defeated the Lakeshore Chinooks at Capital Credit Union Park on Saturday, 15-8.

The Booyah saw their 3-0 lead evaporate when the Chinooks scored five unanswered. The Booyah kept it within arm’s reach as they scored one in the fourth to make it 5-4. The Chinooks then added three in the top of the sixth to make it 8-4 and it seemed like Lakeshore would pull away at any moment. But the Booyah again answered with two in the bottom of the sixth to remain within striking distance as momentum started to swing.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Booyah sent 10 batters to the dish as they scored five runs in the half inning highlighted by Jake Berg’s (Jacksonville) grand slam to right field to give the Booyah their first lead since the first frame.

Green Bay would add some insurance in the bottom of the eighth when they tacked on another four runs to put the game out of reach.

Nadir Lewis (Princeton) and Max Wagner (Clemson) each had RBI triples in the contest. Lewis, Dayson Croes (Quincy) and Brendan Ryan (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) each recorded a three-hit game.

The Booyah will take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters at Witter Field on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 pm. Evan Estridge (Clemson) is slated to start for the Booyah. He is 2-3 on the season with a 7.29 ERA. The Rafters have not announced a probable starter.
