Green Bay will take on Rafters tomorrow

by: Manny Rodriguez

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. The Green Bay Booyah fell to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Thursday at Capital Credit Union Park, 8-3.

Green Bay was behind early as they were down two before they took a swing. The Booyah halved their deficit in the bottom of the first inning courtesy of a leadoff home run by Brendan Ryan (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi). It was his third home run of the season.

After the Rafters scored one in the top of the second to make it 3-1, the run amount would remain still until the bottom of the sixth inning. A two-run triple by Tristin Garcia (Western Kentucky) scored Nadir Lewis (Princeton) and Dayson Croes (Quincy) to even the score at three.

But the Rafters would answer back with five unanswered runs over the next three innings to run away with the victory.

Jett Thielke (Madison College) pitched five innings, allowing just three hits and two earned runs while striking out four. He ends up with a no-decision.

The two teams will return to action on Friday evening in Wisconsin Rapids. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm. The Booyah will give Boston Mabeus (BYU) the start. The southpaw is 0-1 on the season with a 3.26 earned run average.

The Rafters have not announced a starter for the game.
