Green Bay aims to take second meeting against Rockford

Rockford, Ill.- The Green Bay Rockers look to take the second game of a two-game series against the Rockford Rivets Saturday with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. from Rivets Stadium.

After Rockford took the first meeting Friday 9-5, Green Bay aims to split the opening two-game series, in what is the second of a five-game road trip for the Rockers.

The Rockers scored all five of their runs in the top of the ninth inning in Friday’s game, led by RBI singles from Owen Jackson and Keniel De Leon, followed by a two-RBI double from Tristin Garcia.

A RBI sacrifice fly from Carlin Dick made it 9-5, but a strikeout then ended the rally, as Rockford held on to get their ninth win of the season.

Michael Fowler started the game for Green Bay on the mound, pitching the first 3.2 innings while Kyle Stoddard and Giovanni Canales then came in for relief out of the bullpen.

The Rivets were led by Ricky Castro who pitched the first seven innings of the ballgame, as their offense scored at least one run in each of the last five innings of play.

Green Bay comes into this game with a 6-13 record while Rockford comes into this game at 9-10.

The Rockers will send Dylan Carter on the mound following his complete game shutout this past Sunday against Lakeshore, as he’ll make his fourth appearance and start of the season. He currently has a 2-1 record and a 0.43 ERA.

Jack Moore will get the start for Rockford in what will be his first appearance this season for the Rivets, after finishing his most recent season with Emory University.

Following Saturday’s matchup, the Rockers will head to Traverse City to take on the Pit Spitters for the first of two meetings between the two teams. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. central time at Turtle Creek Stadium.
