Green Bay aims for first sweep of 2022 against Wisconsin Rapids

Ashwaubenon, Wis.- The Green Bay Rockers face off against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters for the second time in as many days Sunday, with first pitch set for 1:05 p.m. at Capital Credit Union Park.

The pregame concert performed by Eight Second Ride will start at 12:05 p.m. with this game also featuring a Youth Baseball Glove Giveaway for the first 500 kids in attendance. Fans will also be able to play catch on the field postgame courtesy of Capital Credit Union.

The Rockers are coming off a 5-4 win on the road against the Rafters after scoring five runs in the first six innings, while Rashad Ruff earned his first save on the season following striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth to seal the deal.

Griffin Selby hit his first home run of the season Saturday night in the top of the second inning, while Tristin Garcia, Owen Jackson, Griffin Stevens, and Mikey Kluska each tacked on an RBI themselves, paving the way offensively for Green Bay.

Chris Sleeper earned his first win of the season following pitching the first 5.1 innings and striking out five batters while giving up just two runs on five hits.

As for Sunday afternoon’s matchup, Logan Berrier will get the start for Green Bay in what will be his seventh appearance of the season. Berrier comes in with a 1-2 record pitching 19.1 innings while striking out 15 in 83 batters faced.

Berrier in his last appearance pitched the first inning and two thirds while walking two and striking out one in a 7-2 loss to the Pit Spitters back on June 20.

The Rafters will start Grant Manning, who will make his sixth appearance of the season. In 17 innings pitched, Manning has struck out 19 batters in 67 batters faced while giving up four earned runs on 13 hits.

Following the afternoon matchup on Sunday, the Rockers will take on the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders at Capital Credit Union Park. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
