Fond du Lac, Wis. – The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders took the opening game of the series against the Rockers Monday night, 6-4.

The scoring started in the second inning when Fond du Lac took a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly by catcher Cole Messina.

Three more came in the third for the Dock Spiders. Andrew Sojka singled home Daylen Reyes, Nick Mitchell scored on a bases loaded walk and Parker Noland grounded to first which scored Sojka.

Another run came in the fifth for Fond du Lac when Sojka scored on a Brandon Comia sacrifice fly to center.

Green Bay made it a 5-3 game in the sixth. Tristin Garcia scored on a Luke Ballweg groundout, JP Gauthier doubled home Danny Wuestenfeld and Carson Yates singled home Gauthier.

In the seventh, the Rockers made it a one-run game, when Chase Hudson scored on an errant throw to first by the shortstop Comia.

Fond du Lac made it 6-4 in the seventh, when Sojka scored his third run of the game on a dropped pop-up by Rockers shortstop Brayden Hazelwood.

The Dock Spiders held on by that score, and the Rockers will be trying for a series split Tuesday night. They host Fond du Lac at Capital Credit Union Park.

Jackson Briscoe will start for the Rockers, while the Dock Spiders haven’t announced a starter yet. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
