Green Bay sweeps Madison at home behind stellar start from Will Semb

Ashwaubenon, Wis.- The Green Bay Rockers took down the Madison Mallards for the second time in as many nights, winning 5-0 Tuesday night at Capital Credit Union Park.

The Rockers now improve to 18-13 in second half play, winning their fourth straight game behind Will Semb’s 8.2 innings pitched for Green Bay, recording his fifth win of the season as well.

Semb started strong through the first two innings, striking out three of the first seven batters he faced and keeping the Mallards off the board as a result.

Following a scoreless third and fourth inning on both sides, Semb pitched his fifth scoreless inning in the fifth, striking out the side to keep the Mallards off the scoreboard with no runs as the game approached the sixth inning of play.

However, in the bottom of the fifth, the Rockers struck first and scored two runs in the frame, as a two-run home run by Luke Ballweg gave the Rockers a 2-0 lead through five innings at Capital Credit Union Park.

After Semb retired the Mallards in in the sixth and seventh innings, Jake Mastillo launched a two-RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, giving his team a 4-0 lead going into the eighth.

J.P Gauthier gave the Rockers their largest lead of the night on a solo home run over the left field wall, extending the lead to 5-0 approaching the ninth.

Semb returned for the top of the ninth inning and finished his 8.2 innings pitched with seven strikeouts and just seven hits given up.

Jacob Young recorded the last out of the inning and sealed the deal for Green Bay, handing his team a series sweep and their fourth straight win.

The Rockers continue their five-game home stand Wednesday with a matchup with the Wausau Woodchucks. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. from Capital Credit Union Park.

The pregame concert performed by Panic Station will start at 5:35 p.m. with it also being Woof Wednesday at the ballpark presented by Vital Essentials.
