Green Bay now heads to Mequon for final two games of 2022 season

Ashwaubenon, Wis.- The Green Bay Rockers won their final home game of the season Friday night, taking down the Lakeshore Chinooks 6-3 at Capital Credit Union Park.

The Rockers improve to 20-14 in second half play this season with two games left and are now 30-40 through 70 games played in 2022.

Eli Frank started strong on the mound for Green Bay, pitching his first two innings scoreless and keeping the Chinooks off the board through the first two innings.

The Rockers struck first in the bottom of the second, as an RBI walk drawn by Matt Scannell gave the Rockers an early 1-0 lead.

Lakeshore however responded in the top of the third, scoring three runs on a groundout and a two-RBI single, and as a result leading 2-1 through three innings in the home finale at Capital Credit Union Park.

Jacob Young pitched a scoreless fourth inning out of the bullpen to keep it a 3-1 ballgame, and then the Rockers tied it in the bottom half of the fourth, scoring two runs on RBIs from Clayton Slack and Griffin Stevens and tying the game up at three runs apiece.

Following a scoreless fifth inning on both sides, Green Bay took a two-run lead in the bottom of the sixth off RBIs from Clayton Slack and Griffin Stevens, as the Rockers went on top 5-3 heading into the seventh.

Jake Mastillo launched a solo home run over the right center field wall to extend the Rockers lead to 6-3 as the game approached the eighth inning at Capital Credit Union Park.

Caden Capomaccio came on in relief in the eighth inning and pitched the final two innings scoreless to secure the victory at home, handing the Rockers their 30th win of 2022.

The Rockers will finish the 2022 season on Saturday, with a doubleheader on the road against the Chinooks. The first game will start at 3 p.m. with the second game starting at 6:35 p.m.
