Green Bay heads to Warner Park to take on the Mallards for game one of the potential-three game playoff series

Madison, Wis.- The Green Bay Rockers will officially begin their run at a Northwoods League Championship against the Madison Mallards Sunday, with game one set for a 4:05 p.m. first pitch at Warner Park.

The Rockers head into the 2023 playoffs with a 41-31 overall record after winning the first half and securing the best overall record of the Great Lakes West division, while finishing 7-3 in their last 10 games to close out the regular season.

Despite coming off a 4-2 loss to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters to finish their regular season campaign Saturday night, Green Bay will look to start off their postseason run strong after being extremely competitive against the Mallards in the overall season series throughout 2023.

Heading into the postseason, Kendal Ewell (Illinois-Chicago) leads the team in batting average at .333 through 44 games played, while also having hits in each of his last 12 games at the plate with the last two games being multi-hit performances.

On the mound, starters Brett Sanchez (Belhaven University) and Maddox Long (Harding University) have led the way for the Rockers pitching staff, with Sanchez recently being named Northwoods League Pitcher of the Year after recording a 3.23 ERA through 10 starts while throwing 73 strikeouts and allowing 10 walks throughout the summer.

JoJo Jackson (Georgia St) also continues to surge at the plate with the Northwoods League Postseason All-Star posting a .319 average at the plate with four homers and a team leading 39 RBIs to lead the way offensively for Green Bay all summer long.

Heading into game one of the three-game series, Sanchez will get the start on the mound for the 11th time all summer with his latest start coming against the Lakeshore Chinooks last Sunday at Capital Credit Union Park.

In five innings pitched last Sunday, Sanchez allowed just two hits while allowing only one walk and recording three strikeouts, earning the win in the process to complete what was a four-game series against the Chinooks.

Madison will start Jacob Kisting (Bradley) who has 10.1 innings pitched this summer with four walks allowed and 12 strikeouts recorded in three appearances throughout 2023.
