ASHWAUBENON, Wis. — Despite a strong offensive push in the later innings, the Green Bay Rockers (2-1) fell just short in an 11-8 loss to the Rockford Rivets (3-0) on Tuesday night, snapping their early-season win streak.

The Rockers came out hot in the first inning, striking first on an RBI by Mazza, setting the tone early. But the Rivets quickly answered in the second, putting up three runs before a momentum-stalling double play ended the inning.

Green Bay kept pace in the third, with Urreta slicing a clutch opposite-field double to drive in a key run and keep the Rockers in the mix. However, the fourth inning proved costly as the Rivets exploded offensively, plating seven runs to take a commanding 10-3 lead.

Refusing to back down, the Rockers chipped away. Eli Selga’s aggressive baserunning in the fifth sparked life into the dugout, cutting the deficit in half. Brandon Rogers followed suit in the sixth, hustling on the basepaths and keeping the momentum rolling.

In the seventh, Urreta struck again with a massive drive that tightened the gap to 10-7, reigniting the crowd and bringing the Rockers within striking distance. Green Bay’s bats stayed active, scoring in nearly every inning except the third and fourth.

Pitching stepped up in the eighth, silencing the Rivets and giving the Rockers a chance to complete the comeback. By the end of the frame, it was a tight 10-8 ballgame.

Rockford added one final insurance run in the top of the ninth. The Rockers kept battling, but the rally ultimately fell short.

Green Bay’s comeback effort showed plenty of grit and offensive firepower, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

The Rockers return to the field tomorrow looking to bounce back and build on the positives from tonight’s fight. Our feature band tomorrow are the NEW dueling pianos. Tomorrow’s giveaway is bound to keep your drink cold and Rockers spirit hot with a koozie sponsored by Bud Light. First pitch is at 6:35p.m. Doors will open at 5:30p.m.
