Buchanan ties it in the 7th, Rogers walks it off in the 9th as Green Bay improves to 5–2

In a back-and-forth battle at Capital Credit Union Park, the Green Bay Rockers (5-2) came out on top in dramatic fashion, walking off the Battle Creek Battle Jacks (4-3), 4–3 in Game 1 of their two-game home series.

Starter Alex LePage was sharp early, tossing two perfect 1-2-3 innings and keeping Battle Creek off balance. The Rockers struck first in the third when Cooper Smith roped a two-run triple to deep right-center, giving Green Bay a 2–0 lead.

The Battle Jacks answered back, tying the game with a pair of runs before a Rockers double play helped stall their momentum. Battle Creek tacked on one more in the sixth to take a 3–2 lead — their first of the night.

But Green Bay had a response. In the bottom of the seventh, Brayden Buchanan delivered a clutch solo home run to left, tying the game at 3–3.

Things stayed quiet until the ninth, when the Rockers worked the count, drew walks, and loaded the bases with a series of gritty at-bats. That’s when Brandon Rogers was hit by a pitch, forcing in the game-winning run and sealing the walk-off win.

The Rockers move to 5–2 on the season and will wrap up the series with Battle Creek on Monday at 6:35 PM. Fans can arrive early for live music from the Paul Hanna Band, and it’s also Dog Days at the ballpark — with free hot dogs for the first 90 minutes and Bark in the Park festivities.
