Green Bay completes the sweep of Battle Creek, winning their sixth in a row

Box score

Ashwaubenon, Wis. – After trailing the Battle Jacks again for most of the latter half of the game, Green Bay’s offense came through, besting Battle Creek 5-3 in extra innings.

The starting pitching was strong yet again for Green Bay, as Austin Grube (UW-Parkside) turned in five innings of work, allowing three runs on seven hits. The bullpen also stood tall, earning five innings of shutout baseball from Mason Avant (Tallahassee State CC) and Cord Copley (Anderson University).

Both teams scored two runs in the third inning, keeping the game tied until the bottom of the fifth. The Rockers scored their runs with a pair of sac flies from Coleman Lewis (Georgia Tech) and Ben Fishel (Columbia), while a Dayne Wimberly (Southeastern)two-run shot evened the game.

In the fifth, the Battle Jacks finally broke the tie, driving in Brady LaViolette (Murray State CC) off the bat of Gehrig Goldbeck (Missouri). The Rockers failed to score until the 8th inning, when Landon Schaefer (Kansas State) scored on a sacrifice fly from Jeremy Delamota (Fairleigh Dickinson).

A scoreless ninth for both teams led us to the tenth, where Coleman Lewis drove in another run with a double off the wall. One insurance run later, and out came Cord Copley to record the last three outs, earning his first win of the season.
