Offense led the way for the Rockers, taking down Wisconsin Rapids
Ashwaubenon, Wis. – The Rockers, who drew 15 walks in this evening’s contest, beat the Rafters 14-6 to finish the season 26-9 at Capital Credit Union Park.
The offense was rolling on Wednesday night, as Green Bay scored six runs across the first three innings of action, including two-RBI singles from Brayden Pleau (Grand Valley State) and a three-RBI, bases-clearing double from Dawson Schmidt (St. Cloud State).
Five strong innings from Owen Ripley (Carroll) gave the Rockers the shutdown defense they needed, as the righty tossed five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, and striking out two.
In the fifth, the Rockers got right back to scoring, as Boon Kirst (Winona State), Landon Schaefer (Kansas State) and Stefan Di Corrado (Dartmouth) all drove in runs. Three more runs across the seventh and eighth innings helped the Rockers grow their advantage.
In the sixth, Joshua Wolkin (Eckerd) made an appearance and limited the Rafters to just two runs in the next four innings.
With the win, Green Bay is still two and a half games outside of a playoff spot, with three games to go. Tomorrow, they must beat the Rafters in Wisconsin Rapids, and the Lakeshore Chinooks must lose.
