Ashwaubenon, WI – The Green Bay Booyah fell to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Thursday night in 12 innings, with the final score ending at 4-3.
Green Bay was held scoreless until the 8th inning when Princeton sophomore Nadir Lewis delivered an RBI single into right field, scoring Andy Blake. Both Lewis and Blake finished the day 1-for-3.
The scoring really started during extra innings, when a runner is placed at second at the start of each frame. In the 11th, Grant Emme brought in Stephen Hrustich on a triple into the right field corner. Brady West tried to bring him home on a sacrifice fly, but Emme was thrown out on his way home, giving way to more extra innings.
At the plate, Ty Olejnik finished the day at 2-5 with an RBI and a stolen base in his first action since March. Olejnik was the only Booyah player to record a hit off of Glenn Albanese, who went four innings and struck out 11 batters.
On the mound for Green Bay, Logan Lee, Benton Hart, and Cam Bailey all went three innings, only giving up one combined earned run in the third. Out of the bullpen in extras, both Eric Torres and Dalton Wiggins gave up unearned runs, while combining for four strikeouts in three innings. In total, the Green Bay pitching staff struck out 14 Rafters batters, and only allowed one earned run.
The Booyah look to bounce back tomorrow at home as they start a two-game set against the Rockford Rivets. First pitch for tomorrow’s game is set for 4:35 p.m., with a concert and postgame fireworks to follow. Garrett Martin will toe the rubber for the first time this season for the Booyah.
