Green Bay continues five game road trip at Traverse City

Traverse City, Mich.- The Green Bay Rockers will take on the Traverse City Pit Spitters for the first time this season Sunday with first pitch set for 4:05 p.m. central time at Turtle Creek Stadium.

The Rockers will look to snap a two-game losing streak after dropping two games on the road against the Rockford Rivets Friday and Saturday, while the Pit Spitters will look to end a six-game losing streak after most recently falling to the Wausau Woodchucks.

In Saturday’s game against Rockford, the Rockers took an early 2-0 following a strong start from Dylan Carter on the mound, who finished with six strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched.

Griffin Stevens’s RBI groundout and Owen Jackson’s run scored gave the Rockers the early 2-0 advantage through four innings.

Rockford scored the next six runs however capped off by a four-run seventh inning as the Rockers despite a late two-out double by Chase Hudson in the ninth, fell to Rockford for the second time in as many days.

Jacob Conover pitched 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to keep the Rockers in the game while only giving up one hit as well.

The Rockers enter this two-game series with a 6-14 record while the Pit Spitters enter with an 8-12 record through 20 games played.

As for the pitching matchup, Green Bay will start Chris Sleeper, who will make his second appearance of the season on Sunday. In his first start back on June 13 against Lakeshore, Sleeper pitched four innings giving up no earned runs on four hits while walking two and striking out four.

Jeremy Neff will start for the Pit Spitters after last pitching on June 13 against Rockford. Neff pitched five innings while striking out seven and earned the win in that game as well.

The Rockers and Pit Spitters will face off once again on Monday following Sunday’s matchup to conclude the two-game series. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. central time from Turtle Creek Stadium.
