Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Growlers won Saturday night over the Rockers in a low-scoring contest, 3-2.
The Growlers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Anthony Stephan reached on an error with two outs in the inning, and two runners scored on the play.
In the third, Green Bay tied the game up. Carson Yates led off the frame with a single, then Keniel de Leon doubled him home. Tristin Garcia, later in the inning, doubled home de Leon to make it 2-2.
In the seventh, Kalamazoo took a 3-2 lead on a sacrifice fly to center field by Stephan. Sam Kirkpatrick scored on the play.
Eamon Horwedel threw a 1-2-3 ninth and earned his fifth save of the season for Kalamazoo.
Luke Singleton started for the Rockers. He threw 3⅓ innings and both runs he gave up were unearned.
Rashad Ruff came in relief and threw 4⅔ innings, allowed just one run, walked two and struck out six.
Green Bay and Kalamazoo will go at it again Sunday afternoon. Bryce Crabb will pitch for the Rockers. First pitch from Homer Stryker Field is set for 12:35 CT.
