After leading early, Green Bay was unable to recover from a four-run fifth inning by Madison.
Ashwaubenon, Wis.-Looking to continue their three-game win streak, the Rockers couldn’t rally late, as they fell by one to the Mallards, 4-3. After one run in the 4th, Green Bay held the lead for an inning and a half, but Madison took the lead, and never gave it back.
The scoring started in the fourth, when shortstop Michael Dee doubled to left field, and drove home Max Humphrey to open the scoring. Dee eventually advanced to 3rd by swiping a bag, but was stranded when Payton Fort grounded out to the shortstop.
The Mallards responded quickly in the 5th, scoring four runs on five hits, and leaving none on base. The scoring was spearheaded by a two-RBI double from Aaron Holland, followed by an RBI-single from Dom Jacoby and a RBI-double from Preston Youcher.
Green Bay would be shut down from that point on, all the way until the eighth inning, in which two runs would cross home plate, via a ball put in play by Payton Fort. The runs scored on a play in which an error was committed by the second baseman Jacoby, making both runs unearned. In what was looking like another late rally for the Rockers, turned out to be a disappointing ending, as Green Bay went down 1-2-3 in the top of the 9th inning and fell short by one.
