The Rockers win their 5th straight, matching their longest winning streak of the season
Ashwaubenon, Wis. – A wild game in Battle Creek saw the Rockers rally after being down to their final two outs, winning 10-7 over Battle Creek.
A four-spot from the Battle Jacks in the first inning gave them a lead for most of the first third of the game, but the Rockers quickly responded with two of their own in the 3rd inning. Ben Fishel (Columbia) drove in a pair on a bloop single. Another big inning in the fourth saw the Rockers record six hits and four runs to take the lead.
Green Bay’s starter, Owen Ripley (Carroll), bounced back nicely from a four-run first inning, tossing three consecutive shutout innings to follow, and holding the Battle Jacks at bay.
Three straight doubles strung together in the 5th saw Battle Creek jump out in front. Thomas Cooper (William and Mary) and Brendan Thompson (Cal State Bakersfield) both drove in runs and continued their hot evenings.
In the 9th, the Rockers came down to their last three outs. A leadoff single from Coleman Lewis (Georgia Tech) was short-lived excitement, as he was cut down trying to steal 2nd. Jeremy delamota (Fairleigh Dickinson) responded with a line drive solo shot to tie the game, giving way to three more runs, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Daniel Harden (Houston).
