Game 1

GREEN BAY, WI – The Kalamazoo Growlers came into Friday’s doubleheader having routed the Bullfrogs in a 19-6 offensive outburst one night ago. With only five ballgames left in the regular season, Kalamazoo had taken two of three on the current road trip, winning four of its last five. Prior to the final two between the two ball clubs, the Growlers combined for thirty-six total runs dating back to the previous road series with the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders. Jack Duffy (Missouri State), 4 for 6 last night with a two-run shot out to right, six RBIs in the victory.

The Kalamazoo offense picked up right where it left off in game one of the doubleheader. After an LA Woodard (Kansas City CC) walk to start things, Jack Duffy recorded his seventh RBI in the last two ballgames on an RBI double for Kzoo. He would eventually come around to score after an interference call charged to Green Bay starter, Michael Bohlke (Bethel University), off the bat of Jason Sullivan (Central Michigan). The visitors would extend its lead to three early after a fielder’s choice and an error charged to GB second baseman Ben Hart, 3-0 the score.

The Growlers would strike for three more the very next inning. RBIs for the 2-3-4 hitters for Kzoo in the top of the second. Credit Jack Duffy with an RBI single to start things in inning number two. Two RBIs on the night, putting the red-hot right fielder at eight over the last two games at Joannes Stadium. Jeff Riedel (Ball State) followed with a sac-fly RBI out to center to plate LA Woodard. Credit Jason Sullivan with an RBI double to extend the Kzoo lead to six, 6-0 Growlers.

Kalamazoo would plate its final run in game one in the top of the seventh. A no-doubter over the right field wall off the bat of Matt Koehler (Western Carolina), his fifth long ball of the season.

JR Holloway (Oklahoma City) pitched effectively all night long for Kalamazoo snagging the seven-inning complete game victory, allowing no runs on three hits, walking one, and striking out six Frogs in the process.

7-0 the final in favor of Kalamazoo in game one.

Game 2

Green Bay, WI-  Coming off the game one win Kzoo was hungry for a season series victory over Green Bay.

The Growlers would break a scoreless tie in the top of the 4th. Connor Hollis (Houston) lead off the inning with his 8th double of the year. Jason Sullivan (Central Michigan)  reached via a bunt single , and Matt Koehler (Western Carolina) walked to load the bases with nobody out for Drew Huff (MTSU). Huff singled to right center scoring Hollis to break the tie, 1-0 kzoo. Mitch Bigras (Boston College) hit a sac fly to left scoring Sullivan easily from third, and Koehler would score on a throwing error from pitcher Mason Schwellenbach (Saginaw Valley State), 3-0 Growlers. Matt Schwarz (Old Dominion) would knock a two out RBI single back up the middle to score Huff from second and make it 4-0 Kzoo.

Kzoo would add one more in the top of the seventh on a sac fly from Connor Hollis. Jack Duffy (Missouri State) knocked a double down the left field line, and advanced to third on a throwing error from the left fielder to put himself at third for Hollis.

Growlers starter Dakota Roberts (Kalamazoo Valley CC) went all 7 innings allowing only 3 hits and striking out 8 Bullfrogs en route to a 5-0 Growlers win. Roberts has now allowed only 2 earned runs in his 18 innings pitched for the Growlers.

Kalamazoo takes the season series against Green Bay going 5-3 on the year vs the Bullfrogs. The Growlers ended the season series by winning 5 straight . Kzoo is back at it tomorrow in another double header against the Rockford Rivets at Homer Stryker. Game one is scheduled to begin at 5:05 ET.
