Former La Crosse Logger and current Chicago White Sox ace pitcher Chris Sale tied a Major League Baseball record last night when he struck out 12 batters over eight innings of work. The 12-strikeout performance marked his eighth consecutive start where he has fanned 10+ batters in an outing, making him one of only two pitchers in the history of Major League Baseball to do so (joining Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez).
In the month of June alone, Sale has struck out 72 batters in 41.1 innings pitched while allowing only 25 hits and eight walks.
Sale was a member of the 2008 La Crosse Loggers and earned NWL All-Star accolodaes that summer.
