La Crosse, Wisc.- The Loggers took down the division-leading Bucks 4-1 at Copeland Park tonight. The win makes it 8 straight for the Lumbermen.
Both starting pitchers, Mark Nowaczewski (Nevada) for La Crosse and Daniel Agramont (Riverside City) brought there “A” game to the park tonight.
Waterloo threatened to take the lead in the 4th inning. Zack Soria (Florida International) singled to center field, putting runners on the corners with only one out. Mark struck out the next batter and got out of the inning on a groundout to third base.
He finished after six scoreless innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 7 Bucks on 91 pitches
Daniel Agramont took a no-hitter into the 6th inning. He retired nine consecutive batters until Cullen Large (William & Mary) squeezed a grounder past the Bucks shortstop, giving La Crosse its first hit of the game. Justin Wylie (San Diego State) followed Cullen with a deep double to right center that scored Large from first base. Just like that the Loggers went from being no-hit to leading the game.
Daniel was taken out if two outs in the 7th inning after hitting Lorenzo Hampton Jr. (California) and back-to-back fielders’ choice. An error on the Bucks’ third baseman allowed the pinch runner Garrett Zech (South Florida) (for Hampton Jr.) to reach 3rd base on the second fielder’s choice. Cullen Large made Waterloo pay with a two-run single to center field. Mason McCoy (Iowa) walked and scored the third run of the inning on another error by the Waterloo third baseman.
The Bucks fought back with a run in the 8th inning. Zach Weatherford (Wright State) singled with an out in the inning. He stole 2nd base, but an error on the throw allowed him to move to 3rd base. Alex Boxwell (Minnesota) doubled deep into the left field corner, scoring Weatherford.
Connor Wollersheim (Kent State) finished the last 1.2 innings, including one pitch in the 8th inning to get La Crosse out of trouble with a 4-6-3 double play.
La Crosse wins its 8th straight game over the division-leading Bucks 4-1. The win moves the Lumbermen to 11-6, Waterloo falls to 11-5. The Loggers still trail the Bucks by a .5 game, but luckily the Bucks are in Wisconsin for another night. The two teams match up again tomorrow; Game time is 7:05. Gates open at 6 pm.
