What’s your favorite memory while playing for the Rochester Honkers?
JZ: I had so many awesome memories while playing with the Honkers.  If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be the night we won the Northwoods league championship in St. Cloud.

What’s your favorite non playing memory from your time with the Rochester Honkers (Host Family, Experience, Bus Ride, etc.)
JZ: First of all, my host family was terrific. I enjoyed the good times we had on the van rides (no bus for us).  We always found ways to keep ourselves entertained.

Who was your favorite teammate when you played for the Rochester Honkers and why?
JZ: I really can't pick a favorite teammate.  The players I played with had great personality and all loved the game of baseball and competed hard every game.

What has happened to you since you left Rochester and what are you doing now?
JZ: I have been teaching Middle School physical education for the past 13 years in my home town of Princeton MN.  I am also the head varsity baseball coach.  I am married to Amy Zimmer and we have two great girls, Sienna 7 and Leah 5.

What was your biggest realization while playing for the Rochester Honkers?
JZ: I learned a lot while playing in Rochester.  Using a wood bat was a tough adjustment.  I learned a great deal about humility because I struck out much more than I ever had in the past.  I had to learn patience and how to deal with failure often.  I also realized how hard it was to play almost everyday, with long distant travel, hotels etc… It was a grind, but I love every moment and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Do you still stay in contact with former teammates? If so who?
JZ: Yes, mostly through facebook.  Jon Kent, Jeremy Vidales, Scott Albin
