Honkers add Sophomore RHP from Tulane
(Rochester, Minn.)- The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced the signing of right-handed pitcher J.P. France from Tulane University. France is a 6-foot-1, 200- pound sophomore from Luling, La.
In his freshman season at Tulane, France pitched in 14 games, starting four of them, and finished the year 2-3 while boasting a 5.91 ERA in 35.0 innings of work. France struck out 36 batters on the season and walked only seven of the batters he faced. He went on to record one save and was a part of one combined shutout for his 2014 season. France also received the honor of being the first true freshman to start on opening day for the Green Wave since 1991.
France was a four-year letter winner at Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero, La. France’s 22-13 record during his senior regular season helped lead his team to the 2nd round of the LHSAA State Playoffs. During playoffs, he posted a 7-1 record with a 0.37 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 64.1 innings of work. France’s senior and junior season statistics went on to earn him First Team All-State, All-District and All-Metro honors.
The Rochester Honkers 22nd season begins on May 26th when the Mankato MoonDogs bark into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch. Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available.
