(Rochester, Minn.)— The Rochester Honkers announced today the signing of Alex Fitchett, a redshirt junior outfielder from the University of Hawaii.
Fitchett is a 6-foot-4, 225-pounder from El Dorado Hills, California who comes to Hawaii after playing one season at Cosumnes River College.His finished his redshirt sophomore season there hitting .354 with three home runs, eight doubles, 37 RBIs and 29 runs scored.He was named the team MVP and earned first-team all-Big 8 Conference honors.The big left-hander also pitched nine innings.
Before CRC, he played his freshman season of 2013 at Sacramento State, redshirted as a sophomore in 2014 and then moved on to CRC.A 2012 graduate of Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills, Calif., Fitchett was a four-year letterman in baseball.He hit .283 as a senior, with four doubles, 14 RBIs and 15 runs scored.He also pitched 45 innings, posting a 5-3 record with a 3.73 ERA and 56 strikeouts.
The Rochester Honkers 23rd season begins on May 31st when the team travels to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on the Express. The following night, Wednesday, June 1st, the Honkers battle the Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available.
