Honkers Add Two More Arms to Roster

 

(Rochester, Minn.) The Rochester Honkers announced today the signing of right-handed pitchers Spencer Johnson of Wayne State (Neb.) and David Worrell of Texas A&M Corpus Christi, for the 2016 Northwoods League season.

Johnson is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound sophomore from Centennial, Colo., who spent his first collegiate career at Northern Colorado.Johnson is currently 0-2 with a 6.98 ERA.He’s made six total appearances, three of which are starts, pitching 19.1 innings, allowing 12 walks and striking out 17.

Worrell is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound freshman from Helotes, Texas.He is currently 2-2 with a 4.60 ERA.Worrell has started five games on the season, making eight total appearances, collecting 20 strikeouts and walking only eight.He is third overall on the team in innings pitched with 29.1 and one of six freshmen to see mound action this season.His last outing was Wednesday, April 4th, when he pitched 1.1 innings of mid-relief, striking out 2 and allowing no hits or runs as Corpus Christi lost to Texas State 4-1.

The Rochester Honkers 23rd season begins on May 31st when the team travels to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on the Express.  The following night, Wednesday, June 1st, the Honkers battle the Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm.
