Matt Fiedler takes home the league honor
(Rochester, Minn.) – Matt Fiedler was named Big Ten Player of the Year after his junior season at the University of Minnesota. The Eagan, Minn. native played for the Honkers during the 2015 Northwoods League season.
Fiedler hit a team-high .383 with seven home runs and 36 RBIs in 52 games played with Minnesota. On the mound, he was 7-2 with a 3.67 ERA and struck out 63.
For the Honkers in 2015, Fiedler hit .354 with eight home runs and 37 RBI in 43 games played. On the mound, he went 2-5 in 12 appearances, in which eight were starts. He threw 52.2 innings, struck out 50 and posted a 4.27 ERA.
The Rochester Honkers 23rd season begins on May 31st when the team travels to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on the Express. The following night, Wednesday, June 1st, the Honkers battle the Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available.
