(Rochester, Minn.) – The Rochester Honkers fell 6-0 in game two of the double header against the Stingers in Willmar Sunday night.

The Stingers scored in the first inning when Greg Lambert (Southern Illinois) hit an RBI double to score Danny Pardo (Montevallo).

In the fourth, Eddie Estrada (Minnesota) hit a solo home run, and then Dylan Woods (Nova Southeastern) hit a two-RBI single to score Luke Becker (Kentucky) and Devin Foyle (Kansas) to make the score 4-0.

In the fifth, Becker doubled home two runs to make the score 6-0 in favor of the Stingers. 

David Worrell (1-3) (Corpus Christi) got the start and the loss for the Honkers; he pitched four innings, allowed four runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out four. Stevie Ledesma (Santa Barbara City) pitched one inning in relief; he allowed two runs on two hits, walked one and struck out one. Sam Bjorngjeld (Tulane) also threw one inning of relief and allowed one hit.

Jayce Vancena (5-1) (Michigan) pitched all seven innings for the Stingers; he allowed three hits and struck out five.

Ryan Fitzpatrick (Saddle Back College), Alex Fitchett (Hawaii) and Jackson Thereon (St. Mary's) all went 1-for-3 to lead the Honkers offense.

Pardo went 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Becker went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored to lead the Stingers.

After the double header, the Honkers fall to 6-10 in the second half and 13-37 overall, while the Stingers advance to 10-6 in the second half and 27-24 overall.

The Honkers will travel to Waterloo on Monday to take on the Waterloo Bucks in the final game of the SCHEELS Highway 63 Cup Series! The Honkers must win the final game to claim a share of the trophy! First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. The Honkers are back at Mayo Field Tuesday, when the La Crosse Loggers come to town! Tuesday is TV Tuesday, presented by Sam’s Club, where one lucky fan will have the chance to win a 40” TV! First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6:00!
