Mayor Ardell Brede Will Be Enshrined With His Own Bobblehead


(Rochester, Minn.)—The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today that Rochester’s Mayor Ardell Brede, will be honored this summer by recognizing him with his own bobblehead.  The 44th Mayor of the city of Rochester, will be honored on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017 at Mayo Field, when the Honkers take on the La Crosse Loggers at 7:05pm.  The first 500 Fans will get this limited edition bobblehead.

“Now is the time to recognize Ardell,” said Rochester Honkers General Manager, Dan Litzinger.  “With the strong local partnership of City Auto Glass, and ABC 6 News, we made this happen.”

June 14th is also important to the city of Rochester, as it will be hosting the League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) conference.  The LMC is a membership organization dedicated to promoting excellence in local government through effective advocacy, expert analysis, and trusted guidance for all Minnesota cities. The LMC serves more than 800 member cities.

“The planets aligned on this one,” said Litzinger.  “It was the perfect time to pull this together.  Couldn’t happen for a better person!”

Brede, 77, has served as Rochester’s mayor since taking office on January 6, 2003.  The Austin, Minnesota native held numerous positions at the Rochester Methodist Hospital, and the Mayo Clinic of Rochester before retiring.

Mayor Brede is married to Judy Brede and they have three children: Leslie Kennedy, Scott Brede and Jennifer Brede.

The Rochester Honkers 24th season begins on Tuesday, May 30th when the team hosts the Mankato Moondogs in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm.
