Fernandez leads Dominguez Hills to a win.

 

(Rochester Minn.) –  College baseball is still a week away from really getting underway, but several future Honkers played this past weekend. Here is an update on how things went.

Ray Diaz (RHP) – Cal State Dominguez Hills (1-2)

Junior Ray Diaz worked the fifth inning in the last game of the series against California Baptist. He gave up one hit and struck out one in a 15-4 loss.

Casey Dunlap (INF) – Point Loma Nazarene (3-3)

Casey Dunlap started two games at second and one at third for the Sea Lions in a series against Cal State Monterey Bay. The junior went 2-for-9 on the weekend and drew a walk. Point Loma lost all three games 5-3, 13-6 and 12-7. Point Loma hosts Cal State Dominguez Hills in a three game series beginning Thursday.

Ryan Casper (OF/RHP) – Point Loma Nazarene (3-3)

Ryan Casper appeared in all three games for Point Loma, he made two pinch hit appearances and started a game at DH. He went 1-for-5 over the series and drew a walk.

Rigo Fernandez (LHP) – Cal State Dominguez Hills (1-2)

Lefty Rigo Fernandez was the opening day starter for Dominguez Hills. He was matched up against California Baptist, who is ranked #6 in Division II. Fernandez threw 4 1/3 innings and surrendered four runs on four hits. The junior struck out eight batters to lead the Toro’s to a 5-4 win. Dominguez Hills takes on Point Loma in a three-game series starting Thursday. Fernandez will be taking on fellow future Honkers Casey Dunlap and Ryan Casper.
